Letzte Nacht habe ich geschlafen wie ein Engel… vielleicht bin ich einer? ; ) Es ist so schön ruhig hier und weit weg von aller Hektik! Um 9 Uhr erwachte ich und als ich hinaus blickte, lächelte mir schon die Sonne zu!

Eine halbe Stunde später sass ich beim Frühstück und liess mich mit frischen Früchten verwöhnen. Das Brot aus der Gegend Alentejo ist so gut, dass ich fast nicht aufhören konnte zu essen…

I slept like an angel last night… maybe I am one? ; ) It is so quiet here and far from all the rush! I woke up at 9 am and when I peeked out the sun was smiling at me!

Half an hour later I sat at breakfast and got myself treated with fresh fruits. The bread from this region (Alentejo) is that tasty that I almost couldn’t stop eating…

Zum Verdauen legte ich mich für 2 Stunden an den Pool, genoss die Sonne und recherchierte für meine Weiterfahrt morgen. Mir wurde berichtet, dass auch hier das Wetter bis letzten Freitag alles andere als fantastisch war… es habe nur geregnet!

Thereafter I relaxed and digested at the pool for 2 hours, enjoyed the sun and investigated for the continuation of my trip tomorrow. I was told that also here the weather was everything else than fantastic until last Friday… there was nothing but rain!

Kurz vor 14 Uhr machte ich mich auf zum Golfplatz Troia (www.troiagolf.com) und um 14:10 startete ich die 18 Loch. Es ist ein wunderschöner und anspruchsvoller Platz in den Dünen, Loch 3, 4 und 17 sind der Länge nach direkt am Meer. Der Platz war in sehr gutem Zustand (wegen des vielen Regens?) und das Personal war überall super freundlich und zuvorkommend. Leider konnte ich die Flasche Bushmills Whiskey nicht öffnen (hatte sie auch nicht dabei!), aber ich spielte immerhin 2 Par, ein Par 5 und ein Par 3 (aus dem Sand)! Meine Theorie bewahrheitete sich ein weiteres Mal: Je schöner der Platz desto besser spiele ich! Obwohl es heute bei dem genialen Wetter (um 24 Grad) viele Spieler hatte, benötigte ich nur 3 1/2 Stunden, denn ich wurde oft von 3-er und 4-er Flights vorgelassen.

Nach dem Spiel genehmigte ich mir einen Portwein im Golfrestaurant und genoss die Abendsonne… Zurück im Hotel, war ich froh, dass ich heute zum Abendessen hier reserviert hatte und nicht mehr raus musste – ich war ganz K.O. vom Golfspielen, oder war es doch von der Sonne?

Um 20 Uhr setzte ich mich an den hübsch gedeckten Tisch und Katty gesellte sich dazu. Wir hatten einander vieles zu erzählen und sie gab mir noch einige Tipps, was ich auf dem Weg in die Algarven nicht verpassen darf… Ich genoss eine ausgezeichnete grillierte Dorade mit Gemüse und zum Dessert frische Erdbeeren mit Schokoladeneis und Rahm – genau nach meinem Geschmack!

Shortly before 2 am I took the road to the golf course Troia (www.troiagolf.com) and started the 18 holes at 2:10 pm. It is a very beautiful and demanding course in the dunes, hole 3, 4 and 17 are all along the ocean. The golf course was in a very good condition (because of all the rain?) and the staff everywhere was utmost friendly and helpful. Unfortunately I couldn’t open the bottle of Bushmills whiskey (I not even had it with me!), but I played 2 pars at least, a par 5 and a par 3 (out of the sand)! My theory proved to be true once more: The prettier the course is the better I play! Although the course was crowded because of the brilliant weather (around 24 centigrade), it only took me 3 ½ hours as lots of flights of 3 and 4 persons let me pass.

After the game I had a port wine at the golf restaurant and enjoyed the mild evening sun… Back at the hotel I was glad that I had reserved a table for dinner there and didn’t have to go out anymore – I was completely knocked out from playing golf, or was it from the sun?

At 8 pm I sat at the pretty set table and Katty joined me. We had a lot to talk about and she gave me some hints of what not to miss on the way to the Algarves… I had a delicious sea bream with vegetables and for desert fresh strawberries with chocolate ice-cream and whipped cream – exactly to my taste!
