Kurz vor 8 Uhr erwachte ich heute Morgen und hörte Marc, der sich bereits in der Küche zu schaffen gemacht hatte. Etwas später sassen wir bei Tee und frische Erdbeeren.

Eine Stunde später hatte ich mich verabschiedet und kehrte im Café Solmar in Salema ein, wo ich meinen Post von gestern bei einem doppelten Espresso und einem frisch gepressten Orangenjus ins Netz lud.

I woke up shortly before 8 am this morning and heard Marc being already busy in the kitchen. Soon after we were having tea and fresh strawberries.

An hour later we had said goodbye and I drove to the village to hae a double espresso and a fresh orange juice at the Café Solmar while uploading my post of yesterday.

Um 10:30 Uhr checkte ich im Hotel Marina Rio (http://www.marinario.com) in Lagos ein, das ich gestern inspiziert hatte. Darauf genoss ich die Sonne am Pool auf dem Dach - herrlich!

At 10:30 am I checked in the Hotel Marina Rio (http://www.marinario.com) in Lagos which I had investigates yesterday. Thereafter I enjoyed the sun at the pool on the roof - terrific!

Um 13:30 Uhr fuhr ich die 10 Minuten zum Golfplatz Onyria Palmares (http://www.onyriapalmares.com), wo ich um 13:54 Uhr abschlug. Der Platz hat 3 x 9 Loch und ich spielte Praia und Lagos, fast alles mit Meeresrauschen dem Atlantik entlang oder dann mit fantastischer Sicht darauf Richtung Lagos und Portimao! Der Zustand war sehr gut: Die Fairways waren so kurz geschnitten wie Greens aber sehr sandig, die Greens waren tadellos dafür bestanden die Roughs aus Dickicht, die viele meiner Bälle verschlangen! Auch hier, wie übrigens überall in Portugal, sind ausnahmslos alle Angestellte sehr freundlich und zuvorkommend. Ab 14 Uhr gilt der Twilight Spezialpreis für EUR 75 inklusive Cart - war ich froh: Denn erstens ist es sehr weitläufig, es ging immer wieder runter ans Meer und dann wieder hinauf, und zweitens war es ein sehr heisser Tag! Zum Glück hatte es etwas Wind... Ich benötigte 4 1/2 Stunden für 18 Loch und spielte ziemlich gut! Einmal war ich mit dem 2. Schlag auf dem Green eines Par 5, aber ich habe trotzdem nur viele Bogeys gespielt... vor allem beim Putten war ich sehr unkonzentriert - oder war es einfach zu heiss? Jedenfalls wenn es so weiter geht nehme ich meine Flasche Whiskey ungeöffnet nach Hause! ; )

At 1:30 pm I took the 10 minutes' drive to the Onyria Palmares golf course (http://www.onyriapalmares.com), where I drove off at 1:54 pm. The course exists of 3 x 9 holes and I played Praia and Lagos, almost all the time along the Atlantic Ocean with the sound of the sea or with a fantastic view of it in direction Lagos or Portimao! The condition of the course was very good: The fairways were as short as the greens but very sandy, the greens were just perfect but the roughs were pure thicket which swallowed lots of my balls! Here as well as everywhere in Portugal everybody without exception is very friendly and helpful. From 2 pm the twilight special of EUR 75 including cart are in force - how glad I was to be on the round with a cart: First of all it was a very extensive course going down to the ocean and then up again and again and secondly it was a very hot day! Fortunately there was a bit wind... It took me 4 1/2 hours to finish 18 holes and I played quite well! Once I hit the green of a par 5 with the second shot, but anyhow I only played lots do bogeys... I wasn't concentrating especially on the putting greens - or was it simply too hot? Anyway, if it goes on like that I will take home the bottle of whiskey unopened! ; )

Zurück im Hotel war ich ganz K.O. und nicht einmal eine Dusche konnte mich wieder beleben... aber mein Hunger war grösser als die Müdigkeit so dass ich um 20 Uhr den 10 Minuten Fussmarsch in die Altstadt antrat und mich im Restaurant Don Sebastiao draussen auf der Terrasse hinsetzte. Und es lohnte sich: Ich verspeiste zur Vorspeise eine Avocado gefüllt mit Crevetten, danach eine gegrillte Seezunge und zum Schluss knackte mir Ferdinando noch Mandeln und offerierte mir einen Portwein!

Back at the hotel I was completely knocked out and not even a shower could revive me... but my hunger was stronger than my tiredness so that I took the 10 minutes' walk to the historic town under my feet and sat down outside at the terrace of the restaurant Don Sebastiao. And it was worthwhile: I had an avocado filled with shrimp for a starter, thereafter a grilled sole and for desert Ferdinando cracked some almonds for me and offered me a port wine!
