Kurz nach 9 Uhr erwachte ich heute Morgen und wenige Minuten später befand ich mich beim Frühstück. Ich getraue es mir kaum mehr zu erwähnen, aber ein weiterer traumhafter Tag kündigte sich an und einmal mehr genoss ich das Panorama vom Hotelrestaurant, das hoch über der Praia Pneca trohnt... Danach lud ich meinen Post von gestern ins Netz, da die Internetverbindung gestern einen Aussetzer hatte.

I woke up this morning shortly after 9 am and only minutes later I went for breakfast. I hardly dare to mention that another terrific day had announced itself and once again I enjoyed the panorama from the hotel restaurant which thrones high over the Praia Pneco... Thereafter I uploaded my post of yesterday into the web as the connection had a dropout last night.

Bevor es am Nachmittag auf meine 4. Golfrunde hier in Portugal ging, ruhte ich mich am Strand an der milden Sonne etwas (vor) aus... was mir vorzüglich gelang mit der schwachen Briese und dem Klang der Wellen in den Ohren! Obschon viele Leute hier jeden Tag ins kalte Nass tauchen, hielt ich mich bis jetzt noch nicht dafür... sonst geh ich doch wenigstens nach dem Joggen im Meer schwimmen, auch wenn es nur 18 Grad ist! Mal sehen, vielleicht morgen?

Um 14 Uhr nahm ich bei 25 Grad, etwas kühler als die vorhergehenden Tage, die 25 km zum Golfplatz Vale do Lobo Ocean Course (www.valedolobo.com/en/golf/ocean-golf-course) unter die Räder. Ich kam dort frühzeitig an so dass ich noch Zeit hatte mir ein schönes Golfshirt zu erwerben und mich mit den Vitaminen eines frisch gepressten Orangensaftes zu stärken. Als ich beim Tee 1 auf meinen Mitspieler wartete, traute ich meinen Augen nicht: Es war Gerard aus Irland, mit dem ich vorgestern schon 18 Loch gespielt hatte! Welch ein freudiger Zufall!

Before I went to play golf for my 4th time here in Portugal I relaxed at the beach in the mild sun... which indeed succeeded very well with the soft breeze and the sound of the waves in my ears! Although there were lots of people here swimming in the cold ocean every day I haven't had the guts up to now... normally I take a swim after running even in waters with only 18 centigrade! So maybe tomorrow?

At 2 pm I took the road of 25 km to the Vale do Lobo Ocean Golf Course and it was about 25 centigrade, slightly cooler than the days before. I arrived there early so I had time to buy me a nice golf shirt and take in some energy in form of a fresh orange juice. When I was waiting for my fellow partner at tee 1 I couldn't believe my eyes: It was Gerard from Ireland with whom I had played 18 holes 2 days ago! What a joyful coincidence!

Ich lud meinen Golfsack auf Gerards Cart und um 15:12 Uhr schlugen wir ab. Die ersten 9 Loch sind recht umbaut zwar mit wunderschönen Anwesen, die zweiten 9 liegen dagegen am Meer und vor allem Loch 11, 14 und 15 sind quasi auf dem Strand - absolut traumhaft! Auch dieser Platz kann in keinem besseren Zustand sein und der Twilight-Preis ab 15 Uhr beträgt EUR 72 (Normalpreis EUR 180!!!). Wir hatten sehr viel Spass auf unserer 3 1/2 stündigen Runde und ich staunte immer wieder über Gerards Drives von 300 m! Die Sonne heizte mehr ein als erwartet, so dass ich am Schluss einen kleineren Sonnenbrand davon trug... : (

I loaded my golf back on Gerard’s cart and we drove off at 3:12 pm. The first 9 holes are rather obstructed with beautiful mansions, whereas the second 9 holes are situated at the ocean and especially hole 11, 14 and 15 were virtually at the beach – absolutely divine! This golf course as well cannot be in a better condition and the twilight price from 3 pm onwards is EUR 72 (standard price is EUR 180!!!). We had lots of fun on our 3 ½ hours’ round and I was amazed again and again at Gerard’s drives of 300 m! The sun was hotter than I expected so that I carried away a bit of a sunburn at the end… : (

Eigentlich hatte ich vor auf dem Rückweg irgendwo am Meer etwas zu Abend zu essen und ich probierte auch jede kleine Strasse ans Meer aus, aber dieser Küstenabschnitt schien recht verbaut, so dass ich bald wieder in Albufeira landete. Unterwegs ging ich jedoch nach 1000 km das erste Mal tanken und war erstaunt über den günstigen Dieselpreis von etwas über EUR 1.40 und wie ergiebig er ist.

Um 21 Uhr betrat ich das Restautante 54 gleich neben dem Hotel hoch über dem Strand und genoss Avocado mit Crevetten und danach meinen Lieblingsfisch den Seeteufel mit Scampi - das perfekte Abendessen um einen genialen Tag abzurunden!

Zum Schluss meines Aufenthaltes in Albufeira setzte ich mich nochmals in die gemütliche Hotelbar und aktualisierte meinen Blog während ich einen alten Portwein zu mir nahm.

Actually I intended to have dinner somewhere at the ocean side on the way back and I tried out each and every path to the Atlantic, but this stretch of the coast seemed to be rather obstructed with the result that I landed in Albufeira all too soon. What I did on the way was filling my tank for the first time after 1000 km and I was surprised at the cheap prices of diesel of a bit more than EUR 1.40 and how economical it was.

At 9 pm I entered the Restaraunte 54 just around the corner of the hotel overlooking the beach and had a wonderful avocado with shrimp and thereafter my favourite fish the monkfish with prawns – the perfect dinner to round off a superb day!

At the end of my stay in Albufeira I went to the cosy hotel bar once again and updated my blog having an old port wine.
