Letzte Nacht habe ich für einmal schlecht geschlafen, altbekannte Albträume haben mich aus dem Schlaf gerissen und die meiste Zeit danach wach gehalten... Ob mir der Lobster wohl auf dem Magen lag obschon ich das Gefühl hatte ihm mit der Erlösung aus dem Aquarium einen Gefallen getan zu haben? Oder ist es einfach nur weil ich nach meiner super Zeit hier in Portugal wieder nach Hause 'muss', wo es so schwierig ist festgefahrenen Mustern und Routinen zu entfliehen? - Jedenfalls habe ich nicht vom Lobster geträumt...

Kurz nach 8 Uhr ging ich 1 Stunde joggen und liess meine Gedanken vom kühlen Wind durchlüften... Es war deutlich kühler seit Freitag Abend und ich war froh, dass ich meinen Faserpelz nach dem Golfspielen ins Zimmer genommen hatte - wäre er noch im Auto gewesen, wäre ich sicherlich ohne joggen gegangen und fast erfroren! Es war ein richtiges Treppenrennen: Alles dem Meer entlang zuerst durch die engen Gassen des Städtchens und dann immer wieder Treppen runter und rauf von und auf die Uferpromenade an die vielen kleinen Strände. Eine wunderschöne Strecke, die Massen von Joggern und Spaziergänger am Sonntagmorgen anzog. 

 

Danach genoss ich ein letztes Mal ein ausgiebiges Frühstück (übrigens auch hier mit 'meinem' Brot) und die herrliche Aussicht auf die Bucht. Da ich gestern Abend das Mietauto noch vollgetankt und im Internet eingecheckt hatte, hatte ich nun genügend Zeit mir noch ein heisses, entspannendes Bad einzulassen. Dann war Packen meiner Siebensachen angesagt und um 12 Uhr checkte ich aus.

 

Nun ging es auf der Autobahn die 30 km und Minuten zum Flughafen, wo ich mein geliebtes Mietauto zurückgab, meine Koffer aufgab und gerade noch Zeit hatte ein paar Flaschen Portwein einzukaufen...

Last night I didn't sleep well at all for once, well-known nightmares tore me out of me sleep and kept me awake for almost the rest of the night... If the lobster sat heavily on my stomach although I had the feeling to do it a favour when releasing it from the aquarium? Or was it simply because I 'had' to go back home after having a great time here in Portugal and it is so difficult to escape the deadlocked patterns and routines? - Well anyway, I didn't dream about the lobster...

Shortly after 8 am I went for an hours' run to get some fresh air for my brain... It was remarkably cooler since Friday evening and I was glad to have taken my fleece to the room after playing golf – as if I had 't, I surely would have gone without and been freezing to death! It was a ‘running the steps’: All along the ocean first through the narrow streets of the little town then from the seaside promenade down and up to and from lots of little beaches. A beautiful stretch which attracted lots of people jogging and walking on a Sunday morning.

Thereafter I enjoyed a last extensive breakfast (by the way also here with 'my' bread) and the superb view of the bay. As I had fuelled up my rental car and done the web check-in already last night, I had time enough to draw me a hot and relaxing bath. Thereafter it was time to pack my belongings and at noon I checked out.

Now all I had to do was following the 30 km and minutes on the highway to the airport where I returned my beloved rental car, dropped off my suitcases and just had time to buy a couple of bottles of port wine...

Pünktlich um 14:30 Uhr flogen wir in Lissabon ab und ich genoss den super Service der Businessklasse... Leider war mit Aussicht gar nichts, da es schon kurz nach Lissabon sehr bewölkt war und später ausser weiss nichts mehr zu sehen war!

Insgesamt hatte ich eine ganz tolle Reise durch Südportugal, nicht nur das Wetter stimmte, es war auch noch nicht Hochsaison, so waren alle Hotels und Golfplätze verfügbar. Die Küste Portugals, vor allem die Algarven, ist für mich die schönste Europas. Die Leute sind sehr nett, hilfsbereit und eher genügsam. Was das Essen angeht, so habe ich mich 15 Tage nur von frischem Fisch und Schalentieren ernährt und kann mir nichts Besseres vorstellen! Der portugiesische Wein ist eh ein Geheimtipp, vor allem der Vinho Verde (frisch, leicht und etwas prickelnd) und natürlich all die fantastischen Rotweine!

 

Die 6 Golfplätze, die ich gespielt habe waren alle in tadellosem Zustand und auch hier bestach die Freundlichkeit und Hilfsbereitschaft aller Angestellten. Ich habe Golfplätze aus den Top 100 Europas gewählt und mir gefielen vor allem die Links Plätze mit Meerblick. Mein Lieblingsplatz war der Quinta da Ria, im Osten der Algarven, wo einfach alles perfekt war: Vom ersten e-mail Kontakt bis zum inklusiven Wasser auf dem Cart – halt eben wichtige Kleinigkeiten!

On time at 2:30 pm we took off from Lisbon and I enjoyed the great service of business class… Unfortunately there was not a lot of a view because shortly after we had passed Lisbon it was overcast and later on there was nothing to see but white clouds!

All in all I had a fantastic trip in southern Portugal, not only the weather was ideal it also wasn’t high season yet, so all hotels and golf courses were disposable. The coast of Portugal, especially the Algarves, to me is the most beautiful one of Europe. People are utmost nice, helpful and rather modest. As far as food is concerned, I only had fresh fish and shellfish for 15 days and can’t imagine something better! The Portuguese wine is already a secret deal, especially the Vinho Verde (fresh, light and a bit sparkling) and of course all the fantastic red wines!

The 6 golf courses I have played were all in impeccable conditions and here too the friendliness and helpfulness of all the staff captivated. I chose courses of the Top 100 of Europe and I personally preferred the links courses with ocean view. My favourite course was the Quinta da Ria, in the east of the Algarves, where just everything was perfect: From the fist e-mail contact to the including water on the cart – only simple important details!
